Motor Mechanic – Temporary (with potential for permanent)

Join a well-respected, locally owned workshop in Ashburton, known for providing comprehensive vehicle servicing and maintenance across all makes and models – including Honda. With a strong reputation and a loyal customer base, this friendly, close-knit team is looking for a skilled Motor Mechanic to step in while the owners enjoy a well-earned break. This is a temporary role for 3–4 weeks, but could become permanent for the right person.
About the Role This is a hands-on mechanic role in a busy but supportive workshop. Key duties include:
- General vehicle maintenance and repairs on a wide range of makes and models
- Creating and updating job cards (clocking in/out of jobs)
- Diagnosing issues and working independently on assigned tasks
- Supporting and mentoring an apprentice
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship and workshop safety
What We’re Looking For
- A qualified mechanic – or someone with proven experience in automotive servicing and repair
- Technically capable, organised, and confident working unsupervised
- A strong work ethic with a focus on quality and efficiency
- Able to communicate clearly and contribute to a positive team environment
- Someone who enjoys a busy, varied workload and takes pride in a job well done
Additional Info
- Applicants must have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa

- Applicants must provide two recent work references
