SKILLED WELDER / FABRICATOR

Can you weld? Do you like building, fixing things, and getting stuck into a job?

Bleeker Weith Engineering is looking for a practical, hands-on Welder/Fabricator to join their team in Timaru. This is a varied role covering workshop fabrication, site installations, machinery repairs and maintenance, along with structural, transport, marine, alloy and stainless-steel work.

You don’t need formal welding qualifications. If you’re confident with a welder, mechanically minded, and enjoy figuring things out, we want to hear from you.

You’ll be working with a down-to-earth, experienced team where people pitch in, share knowledge and get stuck in to get the job done.

What You’ll Be Doing

MIG welding steel, stainless steel and aluminium
Fabricating and assembling components in the workshop
Measuring, cutting, fitting and finishing
Working from plans and drawings
Installing fabricated work on site
Carrying out welding repairs and maintenance
Repairing and modifying machinery, structures and equipment
Working on a range of structural, transport and marine projects
Solving problems and finding practical solutions

About You We’re more interested in what you can do than what certificates you have. You’ll be someone who:

Is confident with a welder
Has a practical, mechanically minded approach
Takes pride in their workmanship
Is comfortable working in the workshop and out on site
Can read plans or is willing to learn
Is reliable, safety-conscious and happy to pitch in
Can work independently and take ownership of your work
Enjoys learning and taking on new challenges

Maybe you learnt to weld on the job, through previous experience, or by building and fixing things yourself. If you’re the person who enjoys making things, pulling things apart, figuring out how they work and getting them going again, you’ll fit right in.
